Police said, at least 15 laborers were killed by a truck crushed in India, while they were sleeping on a road. The accident took place early on the morning on Tuesday near a village in Surat district in India’s western state of Gujarat, area police chief Varadbhai Patel said on the telephone.12 of them died at the scene, Patel said. Eight wounded were taken to hospital, where three more died in the hospital at their treatment, he added. The dead included eight women and six men and a baby girl said police official Usha Rada.
All the workers were from Rajasthan state. Patel said the truck driver lost control of his vehicle after it hit some sugarcane hanging out of a tractor-trolley coming from the opposite direction. The driver was among those receiving treatment at the hospital. Deputy police superintendent CM Jadeja said, “the dumper drive lost control of the vehicle and went off the road, crushing laborers sleeping on the roadside,”
