The President of Turkmenistan participates in the opening ceremony of new gas compressor station

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has taken part in the opening ceremony of a new gas compressor station at Malay Deposit in Charjew District during his working trip to Lebap Region on January 15.

This event has marked another important step on the way to the successful realization of the energy strategy of Turkmenistan, which aspects include the increment of export potential of as an industry. Full-scale use of the richest hydrocarbon resources of our country, which is among the world energy powers, is to serve to the strengthening of the economic power of the Motherland and improvement of the wellbeing of Turkmen people.

It is symbolical that a new industrial facility, which has been added to the oil and gas infrastructure of Lebap Region, starts its work in 2021, which is held under the slogan “Turkmenistan – Home of Peace and Trust”.

This is the place in the eastern region of the country, where big deposits of oil and gas have been discovered, from which transnational Turkmenistan – China gas pipeline, which embodies the idea of resumption of the Great Silk Road that has connected people of Eurasian continent through thousands of years, begins.

This energy route is one of the most grandiose engineering and technical constructions of the XXI century. In the practice of international relations, this project has also become a unique example of goodwill, constructive and fruitful interstate partnership.

It is worth to mention that export supplies of natural gas to the pipeline are made from several raw material resources. It includes the Malay Deposit located 70 km away from Turkmenabat, the administrative center of the Lebap Region.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has come to the new facility by helicopter. Members of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Speaker of the Mejlis, and Head of administration of Lebap Region were among the officials meeting Turkmen leader.

Under applauses of the participants, the President of Turkmenistan has cut symbolical ribbon – the new important industrial facility was opened.

The members of the Government, deputies of the Mejlis, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and profile departments, national and foreign mass media, personnel of the sphere have met the Leader of the nation in the building where participants and guests of current events have gathered.

Making his speech, the President of Turkmenistan has congratulated the participants and native people on the remarkable event of the first days of 2021 – the Year of Peace and Trust, the opening of a modern gas compressor station at the Malay Deposit.

The Leader of the Nation has highlighted that availability of giant fields with colossal reserves of hydrocarbons, the establishment of favorable conditions for cooperation with foreign investors have supported the recognition of sovereign Motherland as big energy power in the world arena.

Head of the State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that our policy is to use huge reserves of the country, its hydrocarbon resources for strengthening of peace, provision of wealthy life and prosperity. Many significant projects have been implemented for the achievement of set high targets in a short period.

Natural gas is produced at the Malay Deposit in Lebap Region since 1986. This complex provides gas not only to the settlements and other facilities of the eastern region of the country but also supplies sale products for transnational Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan – China gas pipeline via 188-km Malay – Bagtiyarlyk gas line.

The new facility will be very important for the increment of production output of the wells and full use of reserves of natural gas deposit, Head of Turkmen State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted. The new station has two production lines A and B. The first one serves for the comprehensive development of the Malay Deposit while the second unit is designated for high-pressure pumping of gas from Galkynysh and Dovletabat Deposits to Malay – Bagityarlyk gas pipeline.

The station, which throughput capacity is 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, has six sets of gas compressor equipment from the leading world companies. All processes are automated and operated from computers.

In addition, the complex, which occupies around 12 hectares, has gas cooling and treatment installations, nitrogen, and oxygen production unit, low and high-pressure flare systems, reserve diesel power station. In addition, it has a central control room, maintenance and fire safety workshop, administration building, and water pools. The opening of the new station will establish around 60 additional workplaces.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the big industrial facility that was opened on that day would be a significant and deserving contribution to the achievements of the country and would serve future generations of Turkmenistan citizens.

Having again cordially congratulated the participants on the remarkable event – the opening of the gas compressor station at Malay Deposit, the Leader of the Nation wished strong health, family wealth, a peaceful and happy life, new success in work for further prosperity of beloved Motherland to all.

Further, the floor was given to the General Director of CNPC International Turkmenistan Mr. Li Shuliang, who on behalf of the personnel of Chinese National Petroleum Corporation has cordially congratulated the participants on the successful opening of a new gas compressor station at Malay Deposit.

It was mentioned that this big projects, which was accomplished under the active support of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has started the second phase of development of this field, which in its turn would support the increment of production capacity of the gas industry and strengthening the positions of Turkmenistan in the world oil and gas market respectively.

The Bagtiyarlyk Contractual Territory, where the official opening ceremony of Central Asia – China gas pipeline, which has become a modern embodiment of the ancient Silk Road, has been held with the participation of the heads of Turkmenistan, the People’s Republic of China, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan on December 14, 2009, is located next to Malay Field.

As of today, a total, 290 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been delivered to the Pacific Coast by joint efforts of partners from the fields developed by Türkmengaz State Concern and CNPC International Turkmenistan.

Taking first place in Central Asia and fourth place in the world by gas reserves, Turkmenistan is the world energy power, which has an important role in global and regional oil and gas cooperation, the guest said.

In this context, the Head of CNPC International Turkmenistan has highly appreciated the far-seeing policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, under whose wise leadership the dynamic in the development of oil and gas industry of the country, grandiose success in exploration and production of hydrocarbons, in export natural gas as well as in petrochemical industry rates have been reached.

Being a reliable long-term partner of Turkmenistan, Chinese National Petroleum Company is willing to continue strengthening technological exchange and expanding beneficial cooperation in the oil and gas sphere for the interests of people of two countries, Mr. Shuliang highlighted.

Having congratulated the participants on the remarkable event, the guest addressed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Turkmen people with the best wishes of good health, happiness, and prosperity!

Having expressed gratitude to representatives of the PRC for big work, the Head of the State noted that Turkmenistan is always open for long-term beneficial cooperation with foreign oil and gas companies.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that industrial programs implemented in our country are closely connected with environmental protection.

Turkmenistan has ratified the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and other international treaties providing the reduction of greenhouse gas emission to the atmosphere of the Earth for responding to global warming. Following this, special attention is paid to the wide introduction of the latest, eco-friendly technologies in all spheres and branches, including in the oil and gas industry.

Compliance of current facility with these requirements is a piece of bright evidence that Turkmen – Chinese partnership is activated in accordance with global Sustainable Development Goals.

In this regard, addressing new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Turkmenistan Qian Naicheng, Head of the State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the diplomat would put all necessary efforts for further expansion of cooperation in this direction.

Further, a video dedicated to Turkmenistan and giving the visual impression of the potential and main vectors of the development of the oil and gas industry of the country as well as narrating about the work of gas compressor stations have been demonstrated to the participants.

Taking the fourth place in the world by proven reserves of natural gas, our country takes an active part in the formation of modern architecture of global energy security, successfully implementing an integrated strategy aimed at the establishment of a diversified system of transportation of energy carriers and reliable mechanism of their safe transit to international markets.

Creative initiatives of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov were understood and recognized by the international community, which was set forth in relative Resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov notes that the realization of the mega project of the XXI century – the construction of Turkmenistan – China gas line, which includes three parallel lines A, B, and C, is a visual example of successful Turkmen – Chinese cooperation.

10,000-km West-East gas pipeline is connected to the pipeline of the territory of China. At present time, the gas coming from Central Asia is supplied to 25 provinces and autonomous regions of the PRC as well as to the special administrative city of Hong Kong, which means that almost 500 million people use this gas.

The Türkmengaz State Concern is the main gas supplier to the transnational pipeline. Deposits of Bagtiyarlyk Contractual Territory, which are developed by Amudarya Gas Company of the Chinese National Petroleum Company according to the Production Sharing Agreement signed in 2007, are the second main suppliers of eco-friendly materials.

It was reported to the Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov that Chinese partners have fulfilled a big volume of geological survey and drilling works related to exploration, estimation of reserves, and industrial development of the deposits of hydrocarbon materials on the right bank of the Amudarya River. More than 20 deposits with significant reserves of natural gas and gas condensate have been found in this place.

Two gas plants with a total output capacity of 14 billion cubic meters of sale gas per year and other facilities of production, logistic and social infrastructure have been built at Samandepe Field and in Hojambaz District.

In 2014, the main technologies used for exploration and development of big deposits on the right bank of Amudarya River have been awarded the PRC National Prize in the sphere of scientific and technical progress. The project of construction of Central Asia – China pipeline itself has received more than 10 profile and national awards, including the Zhan Tianyou Award – the most prestigious award of the People’s Republic of China in civil construction, science, and technologies.

It is worth to mention that Bagtiyarlyk has become the first foreign projects where PetroChina Company has built a platform of digital gas deposit, which includes 125 operational wells as of today.

More than 336 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been exported to China from Central Asia from the opening of the pipeline to January 1 this year. At the same time, Turkmenistan has provided 85 percent of the supply of gas.

Continuing the subject, it is worth mentioning that the gas is also supplied to the Russian Federation by Central Asia – Center gas line under a five-year contract with Gazprom on procurement of natural gas from Türkmengaz State Concern.

Construction of the East-West gas pipeline, which was initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and connected all gas lines of the country into a single system, has been an important measure in the development of the national gas transport industry.

The opportunity to make reverse supplies of gas from Mary Region, which has such big deposits as Dovletabat and Galkynysh, to Ahal and Balkan Regions has come up owing to this. In addition, the East-West gas pipeline can be used for the export of Turkmen energy resources to international markets across the Caspian Sea.

Realization of the projects of rapid industrial development of perspective oil and gas deposits in the coastal zone of the Caspian Sea and Central Karakum Desert as well as super giant Galkynysh Field, which is one of the biggest in the world and which reserves together with Yashlar and Garakyol Deposits are estimated in 27 trillion cubic meters as of today, is continued.

A complex of facilities, which allows producing 30 billion cubic meters of sale gas per year, has been put into production in this place. Similar complexes with the same production capacity, which are to provide the TAPI line with gas, are under construction these days.

Volumes of geological survey works, which are to find new deposits of oil, gas, and other natural resources, are increased according to the request of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

In this regard, geophysical studies and drilling of exploration wells are carried out at the territory of famous deposits where new productive horizons can be discovered.

Tajibay Field, which was discovered next to Malay Field in 2019, is one of an example of this. The first wells, which have been drilled by specialists of Türkmengeologiýa State Corporation, have given industrial flows of gas. It is important that concentrations of hydrocarbons in this region are located at a small depth and easily accessible for development.

A similar complex of seismic studies and exploration drilling is planned to be held around Nayip and Bagaja Fields, on which base powerful gas processing complexes, including liquefied gas unit, are working.

According to the economic strategy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, which is aimed at diversification of the entire national economy, the increment of volumes, and expansion of variety of products made in the country, modern industrial giants specialized in deep processing of hydrocarbon materials have been put into operation in the last years.

In particular, these are polymeric plants in Kiyanly producing high-density polyethylene and various types of polypropylene as well as the first in the world plant for the production of synthetic gasoline from natural gas in Ahal Region, which was built with the participation of leading companies and banks of Japan and the Republic of Korea.

In the future, new petrochemical complexes are planned to be built in each region of the country, including polyethylene and polypropylene, rubber and polystyrene, polyvinyl acetate, methanol, and other production plants.

The culmination moments come and having pushed the start button on the sensor panel, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov starts gas compressor station under applauses of the participants.

The light indicating that the sale gas coming from this place has reached the main gas pipeline system is turned on the technological scheme, which is demonstrated at a big monitor installed in the hall.

This project has been realized by Türkmengaz State Concern together with Petro Gas LLP (Great Britain). Gas compressor equipment has been supplied by Dresser-Rand S.A (France).

The power capacity of each unit, which is designated for pumping of 45 million cubic meters of gas per day, is 32 MW. Leader of the Nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has noted during the opening ceremony that Turkmen specialists who fulfilled more than 80 percent of all construction and installation works, took part in the building of the compressor station.

After, the Leader of the Nation has left an entry in the Book of Honored Guests as a memory of the current event.

Specialists of the station have expressed deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan for the construction of a modern production facility of the petrochemical industry, which has all the comfortable conditions for the work of personnel, having assured that they would work honestly for the Motherland.

Having wished success in work to personnel of the complex, the Head of the State gave them the keys from new cars.

After the ceremony, having said a warm goodbye to the participants, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has left for Turkmenabat Airport by helicopter, from which he left for Ashgabat.
