Kathmandu, 20 December. Italian Serie A football club Napoli has named its stadium in honor of legendary footballer Diego Maradona.
Maradona, a former Argentine player and coach, died on November 25 at the age of 60. He was a two-time Serie A winner at Napoli from 1987 to 1990.
The stadium, formerly known as Stadio San Paolo, will now be known as Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Napoli’s city council has passed a proposal to rename the stadium.
After Maradona’s death, the owner of Napoli wrote an open letter proposing to name the stadium after him in his honor. The mayor of Naples also supported it. Agency
