Nehru gave citizenship number 04-06-77-00591 to Amrit Rai, citizenship number 04-06-77-00592 to Deepika Rai and citizenship number 04-06-77-00593 to Vishal Rai. Spokesperson Thapa said that they were found to have done so.

“There is no record of the citizenship of the distributed citizenship in the area administration office in Gauriganj,” he said.

He said that during the preliminary investigation, the person who obtained the citizenship was not at the address mentioned in the citizenship, and after distributing the citizenship using the office software, the details were ‘edited’ (corrected), and again the citizenship of the same number was distributed to other people on different dates. Sah, Alam and Timsina were arrested on Saturday and the case is being investigated by the district court for five more days, according to the office.
