
Kisundev Yadav, acting head of the Agriculture Knowledge Center Siraha, said that 162,000 metric tonnes of paddy was produced at the rate of 3 metric tonnes per hectare in an area of 54,000 hectares in Siraha this year.
Similarly, Saptari has produced 189,000 metric tonnes of paddy at the rate of three metric tonnes per hectare in an area of 63,000 hectares, said Acting Chief Yadav. Last year, paddy was produced at the rate of 2.45 metric per hectare.
He said that the paddy production has increased this year due to favorable weather, reduced incidence of pests and adequate rainfall on time. In Siraha, paddy of Sona Mansuri, Kanchi, Radha 12, Savitri, Ramdhan, Mansuli, Hardinath, Tarhara-1, Suga-3 and local basmati has been widely used.
