Kathmandu, 15 December. At least 43 agricultural workers have been brutally killed in northeastern Nigeria. According to media reports, the assailants tied the workers working in the paddy field on Saturday and strangled them. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a rally in the northern city of Meduguri. Extremists affiliated with Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa are active in the region.
The attack was described as the deadliest in months. The president called Saturday’s attack “insane.” No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Nigerian President Mohammed Buhari has condemned the attack, saying “there is little to condemn the victory of this attack on hard workers.” The whole country is in mourning over this shameful murder. ‘
“We have found 43 bodies so far,” AFP quoted some eyewitnesses as saying. All have been hacked to death. ‘Some workers are still missing.
