(Advantages and Disadvantages)

Those vehicles which run on electricity and battery are known as Electric vehicles. It was first invented in the US by Robert Anderson, around 1832.  There are mainly three types of electric vehicles (EVs) which are classified as the use of their electricity energy source. They are; Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (BEVs). Among them only BEV is capable to charge on level, DC fast charge.

Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) are fully electric vehicles with rechargeable batteries and no gasoline engine. This vehicles store electricity with high capacity battery pack which is used to run the electric motor and all onboard electronic. These vehicles are charged by electricity from the external source which does not emit any harmful emissions and hazards caused by traditional gasoline-powered vehicles. Some of the examples of BEVs are;

  1. Tesla Model 3
  2. BMW i3
  3. Chevy Spark
  4. Nissan LEAF
  5. Ford Focus Electric
  6. Mitsubishi i-MiEV
  7. Tesla X
  8. Tesla y
  9. Toyota Rav4

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) can be recharged through both regenerative braking and plugging in to an external source of electrical power. “Standard” hybrids can go about 1-2 miles at low speed before the gasoline engine turns on and PHEVs models can go anywhere from 10-40 miles before their gas engines provide assistance. Hybrid Electric Vehicles (BEVs), these are powered by both electricity and gasoline. The electric energy is generated by the car’s own braking system to recharge the battery which is known as regenerating braking. In this process the electric motor helps to slow the vehicle and energy converted to the heat by the break. Some examples of BEVs are;

  1. Toyota Prius Hybrid
  2. Honda Civic Hybrid
  3. Toyota Camry Hybrid

It is easy and simple to charge Electric Vehicle at Electric station. There are different ways to charge the vehicles at an Electric station by using your app, RFID card or a credit card.

           SOME ADVANTAGES OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES;

There are many benefits of using electric vehicles such as, lack of air pollution, consumption of petroleum and gases, no sound pollution, cheaper than the other vehicles, no expenses on fuel, etc. These vehicles reduce harmful exhaust emissions and don’t produce any smoke or toxic gases. As, they also have lower risk for major fires or explosions. The body construction and the durability of this vehicle may make them safer in a collision. Electric vehicles have very good torque and are responsive. They are even more digitally connected than conventional vehicles, with many charging stations providing the option to control charging from a smart-phone app. You can charge electric vehicles as a smart-phone at your home with a charger plug. You can charge it whole night and can use that in the next morning. Not only at home, you can charge it at work or on the road where it is available. You don’t need to run to the fuel station to recharge your vehicle; you can recharge it even with a normal household socket. Electric vehicles are cheaper to maintain according to the conventional vehicles. So this Electric vehicle is a great way to save a lot of money on different ways like oil, maintenance, etc.

SOME DISADVANTAGES OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES;

As we all know that, everything has their own advantages and disadvantages. So, this Electric vehicle also have its own disadvantages such as, lack of charging point, being a new in technology it may cost more, need to pay for electricity, short driving range and speed, take more time for recharge, lack of seat, etc. Everyone knows that this technology is a new in this world so it has not been properly developed all over the world. Due to which there will be lack of charging point in all places but we can find gasoline and fuel station everywhere for conventional vehicles. As we said, we can save money of fuel but we do not get electricity in free of cost. We need to pay money for electricity too. The capacity of the charge is not good, so we cannot go for a long drive in this vehicle because there is a lack of charging station in all places. And the speed level of EVs is less than conventional vehicles. This vehicle takes more time to be recharged, but the conventional vehicle can be easily filled the full tank in few minutes. But Electric vehicles take more time to be full. Though it does not produce any noise pollution this one is also a disadvantage of this vehicle, because people hear the noise of the vehicles if they are coming from behind them but this vehicle does not produce any sound. This vehicle is normally in small size due to which there are only 2 seats, so there is lack of seat in it. This vehicle is not possible in cities, facing the problems of electricity. If there is a shortage of electricity then it is not possible to recharge and use the vehicle in emergencies.
