Provision of jail sentence
Colombia’s acting attorney general, Michael Sherwin, said he could be charged with assault and conspiracy to commit treason.
Those charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. He said the number of accused could reach hundreds.
So far, 70 people have been charged.
Steven Duantano, co-director of the FBI’s Washington office in Washington, D.C., said the number of investigations and indictments was expected to increase.
Duantano said, “Even if you have left DC, a representative from the local office will come to knock on your door.”
Senator Chuck Summer has called on the federal government to put those on the Capitol building on the national list on the day of the incident.
“We must not allow such traitors to enter the ship and cause further violence and destruction,” he said.
Democrats are trying to oust Trump, accusing him of inciting the incident.
