December 20, 2020 : Another 11 Nepalis have died abroad due to Covid-19 infection. According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), eight more Nepalis have died in the UAE in the past two weeks alone, while one Nepali has died in Malaysia and one in Kenya this year.
The Health Committee under the Non-Resident Nepali Association has so far detected Covid-19 infection in 52,157 people abroad. Of them, 49,110 Nepalis from 49 countries have been freed from corona infection. This is 94 percent of the total infected.
As of Saturday evening, 312 people from 21 countries around the world had died due to corona infection. Sanjeev Sapkota informed. According to him, this year, more corona infections have been seen in Nepalis living in Malaysia, India, Qatar, UAE, Nigeria, South Africa, Canada, Austria, Japan and South Korea.
The Health Committee under the Non-Resident Nepali Association has urged to reduce the crowds on the occasion of Christmas and English New Year and to celebrate the festival indoors as much as possible. The committee urged not to do so as there is a high risk of infection due to the large number of people attending and celebrating Christmas and New Year.
Stating that the risk of the epidemic is not low and that the infection is spreading unnaturally, especially in European countries, Nepalis living in those countries still need to be careful, said Sapkota.
Meanwhile, the committee has expressed happiness over the fact that different countries of the world have started vaccinating against corona and some Nepalis living there have also been vaccinated. However, the committee’s coordinator Sapkota said that caution was needed as there was no universal access to vaccines and vaccines were yet to arrive in many countries. He also urged everyone to use mandatory masks and sanitizers.
