While at the State Traffic Police Office, Karnali, they committed irregularities. A senior police source has informed that action is being taken after it was confirmed that the monthly amount was collected from the subordinate police offices.
SP Yadav was at the State Traffic Office, Surkhet till four months ago. Before him, SP Basnet was the head of the office there. The complaint branch under the secretariat of the Inspector General of Police has confirmed that they have been collecting money from all the traffic offices in the state. According to the source, the police have confirmed the monthly payment to them.
After taking statements from both the SPs, the complaint investigation branch has submitted a report to the law branch for action. “It simply came to our notice then.

The investigation has shown that they are deploying traffic on the condition of paying monthly money even at the road posts. Both the SPs recommended for action are officers with poor track record. Departmental action has been taken against SP Yadav many times. He was involved in bribery two years ago when he was the Sindhuli police chief.
Although it was confirmed that the police were deployed on the highway to collect money, he was released after taking normal action. He was suspended after it was confirmed that he had taken money from a drug dealer in Rupandehi when he was an inspector. However, even then, he was returned to work after taking normal action.
SP Basnet was also under investigation several times in the past. Earlier, while in Gorkha, he was removed within a few months. Basnet, who has been transferred to the police from the National Investigation Department, has been in controversy in every posting.
